Job Description:

 

We are hiring Project Engineer Interns this summer! The Project Engineer Intern will support the successful execution of commercial construction projects. This individual will collaborate with the project management team, subcontractors, design team, and other stakeholders to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards.

 

This position is available for undergraduate and graduate students to participate in supervised practical training in a professional field.

 

Standard Construction Company is a fast-growing construction company that has a solid client base providing both Construction Management and General Contracting Service. We are located in Carlsbad, CA and will work where our selected clients want us to go. We have projects located in California, Nevada, Colorado, and Florida.

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist in setting up jobs through Procore and creating job folders
  • Maintain, monitor and organize project records and documentations in Procore
  • Create, organize, and distribute bid documents
  • Engage with subcontractors and supplier contacts on bid solicitations and project opportunities
  • Coordinate and collect subcontractor and supplier bids to assist Project Managers in preparing accurate and timely cost estimates
  • Support the project manager team in working with government authorities on obtaining all necessary project permits, licenses, and variances processes
  • Coordinate and track submittals, change orders, schedules, and the distribution of updated construction documents to subcontractors and suppliers
  • Coordinate and schedule project meetings, take meeting minutes, and distribute meeting minutes on behalf of the Project Manager
  • Assist with maintenance and updating of project schedules
  • Learn about managing the project budget by controlling expenditures, coordinating owner and subcontractor billings, identifying work not covered by subcontractor, and ensuring successful office support related to overall cost and schedule
  • Learn about company procedures, the correspondence process and handling, etc
  • Learn how to review and process submittal data and shop drawings
  • Monitor/review weekly and monthly status reports and weekly subcontractor meeting minutes, change orders, etc. to understand process
  • Understand change documents and change proposal requests for price review
  • May join other team members at meetings with architect and owner representatives to understand information required by owner, necessary progress reports and summaries, and how action plans from owner/architect meetings address all outstanding issues related to the project
  • Learn how changes, clarifications, directives, RFIs, etc. are updated on as-built plans and coordinated with company supervision and subcontractors/suppliers
  • Assist with processing RFI’s
  • Learn how to maintain RFI logs and change request log
  • Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as needed

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or completion of an undergraduate college program in construction management, engineering, architectural, or related education program
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, including Excel, Word, and Outlook is preferred
  • Ability to learn software systems including but not limited to Microsoft Office suite, ProCore, BlueBeam
  • High level of motivation, integrity, and commitment to team and customers
  • Strong work ethic with an unwavering commitment to quality and professional work
  • Must maintain regular and reliable attendance at a level acceptable to the company
  • Capable of working on job sites where temperatures and noise level can fluctuate, and the ability to see, hear, and verbally communicate with co-workers and clients as needed
  • Seeks guidance and direction as necessary for performance of duties
  • Able to apply sound judgment and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to work in fast-paced environment

Job Type: Full-time, Seasonal internship
