About the Role

PRIME Electric is seeking a self-motivated Safety Intern to work in our San Jose office in Summer 2024. Our ideal candidate needs to be a team player, be energetic, and have a passion for the safety of all workers.

What You Will Do
  • Gain an understanding of effective oversight, leadership, and administration of safety processes and procedures.
  • Participate in EH&S committee meetings.
  • Conduct safety audits on personnel, equipment, and materials during visits to job sites.
  • Evaluate, assess, and alter safety procedures and policies for the well-being of employees and clients.
  • Research and assist in the implementation of new materials handling processes.
  • Analyze accident reports and evaluate injury case studies based on available facts.
  • Assist in preparing and conducting safety training sessions for employees and vendors.
  • Analyze compliance efforts with all regulatory bodies and standards (including OSHA, EPA, etc.).
  • Research environmental regulations and policies; actively contributing to ensure compliance.
  • Analyze incident metrics and compile findings.
  • Assist in overseeing the applications for and receipt of necessary permits.
  • Gain an understanding of injury and incident inquiries and evaluations.
  • Ensure adherence to critical facility work rules and safety procedures.
  • Interact effectively with internal and external customers.
  • Attend safety training for EHS trainers.
  • Assist in evaluating and creating MOPs, SOPs, EOPs, and other technical reports and procedures.
  • Ensure operational, maintenance and emergency methods of procedure (MOPs) are strictly used.
  • Familiarize yourself with applicable Federal, State, and local rules, codes, and regulations.
  • Perform other assigned tasks as requested.

 

What You Will Need to be Successful
  • Ability to recognize hazardous situations and recommend corrective measures
  • Thorough understanding of Federal, State and Local Regulations
  • Strong Computer Skills (Outlook, word, Excel, etc.)
  • Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to adapt well to fast-paced environments with changing conditions
  • Be a self-starter, organized and able to work effectively and efficiently with little oversight
  • Valid California State driver’s license

 

Education Requirements:
  • Four-year construction management degree or equivalent, plus a minimum of one year of related experience in construction.
