Job Description:
The City of Pismo Beach is thrilled to offer a new opportunity as a Capital Projects Manager. In this role, the successful candidate will perform project management and oversight for the planning, design, budgeting and construction phases of capital projects, and city infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have a high-level of knowledge of construction management, specifically municipal projects, ensuring the smooth progression of a project from RFQ for design services, to bidding the construction contract to completion of the project. The Capital Projects Manager must have exceptional communication skills, valuing customer service and diplomacy while working with consultants, the public, and partner organization. The successful candidate will provide leadership in the initial planning stages of projects by collaborating with inside and outside stakeholders, architects, engineers, and other involved parties and develop detailed descriptions of the projects. Under general supervision, performs various professional field and office project management and oversight for the planning, design, and construction phases of capital projects, public works, and City infrastructure projects; develops project objectives and scopes of work; creates and adheres to project delivery schedules; and prepares and manages project budget expenditures. Performs work related to daily departmental operations; confers with architects, developers, contractors, and representatives of other agencies regarding facility and infrastructure development; administers professional services and construction contracts; administers Federal and State grant funds associated with construction projects; provides professional staff assistance to the Director of Public Works/City Engineer, other departments, and the public in areas of expertise; performs a variety of studies and prepares and presents staff reports; and performs related work as required.
