Project Engineer (Entry-Level) – Custom Home Construction

Mason Hammer Builders | SF Bay Area

Mason Hammer Builders is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Project Engineer (Entry-Level) to help deliver high-end custom homes throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.

This is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience across the full construction lifecycle—from pre-construction through closeout—while working directly with company ownership, project managers, and field teams.

You’ll be involved in real decisions, real coordination, and real problem-solving on projects valued at $10M+.

We are committed to developing you into a future Project Manager.

Compensation & Benefits: $75,000–$80,000 base salary + 20% target bonus, health benefits, Company vehicle, gas card, laptop, and phone provided

What You’ll Learn & Do:

Bidding / Pre-Construction

  • Perform quantity takeoffs and support project final estimates
  • Review plans and specifications for scope clarity
  • Help prepare Instructions to Bidders and subcontractor agreements

Project Execution

  • Assist in developing and maintaining CPM schedules
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, and drawing revisions
  • Maintain clear, organized project documentation

Field & Team Coordination

  • Regular jobsite visits to stay connected with field operations
  • Support Superintendents with materials, logistics, and coordination

Financial Management

  • Process change orders, owner billings, and subcontractor payments
  • Assist with monthly cost tracking, forecasting, and projections

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management (or related field), or in progress
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Self-motivated with a willingness to take initiative
  • Strong communicator (written and verbal)
  • Basic understanding of construction drawings
  • Experience with Bluebeam, Excel, or similar tools is a plus

What You’ll Get

  • Direct mentorship from experienced builders and company leadership
  • Hands-on experience on high-end, complex residential projects
  • Clear path to Project Manager with increasing responsibility
  • Exposure to estimating, field operations, and financial management—not just one function
