Project Engineer Intern – Summer 2026

Specialty Construction, Inc. (SCI) – Civil Division

Specialty Construction, Inc. (SCI) is seeking a motivated Project Engineer Intern to join our Civil Division for Summer 2026. This position is ideal for a college student pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field, with a strong interest in Heavy Civil Construction.

As a Project Engineer Intern, you will work closely with Project Managers, Estimators, and experienced field personnel on a variety of active projects and competitive bids. This role provides hands-on exposure to real-world construction operations, project documentation, and field coordination.

Key Responsibilities

· Assist with estimating activities, including quantity takeoffs and bid preparation

· Support document control processes to maintain accurate project records

· Prepare and track submittals

· Draft, log, and follow up on Requests for Information (RFIs)

· Complete daily reporting, including site observations and progress tracking

· Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors on materials, schedules, and deliveries

· Participate in safety and quality control activities in the field

Preferred Qualifications

· Currently enrolled in a Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related program

· Strong communication and organizational skills

· Ability to work collaboratively in both office and field environments

· Basic understanding of construction plans and specifications

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with Bluebeam, HeavyJob, Procore, and P6 is a plus
