Construction Project Engineer

THE ROLE
As a Construction Project Engineer you are a key member of the Construction team. You will be working on multiple projects throughout the various phases of the construction process. The ideal candidate is an experienced professional in the construction industry with excellent project management, interpersonal, and organizational skills that can manage projects ranging from $500K to $10M. This is a key role providing support to in-house construction operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Respond to RFIs
- Managing take-offs
- Drafting work subcontracts and work authorizations
- Provide administrative support for internal operations
- File management / organization (in office & on the cloud)
- Assist on invoice draws and all project related billing, point of contact for billing inquiries
- Manage subcontractor invoices, change orders, agreements, verify completed work with PM
- Cost coding & tracking project related purchases, expenses, & invoices
- Procore / Forma for Construction project management software experience strongly preferred
- Project documentation - collect signatures on contracts, liens, draft change orders, additional service requests, work authorizations, meeting minutes, copyright for pending agreements
- Retrieve and request insurance certificates, W-9s, ensure all documentation is current & on file
- Implement safety measures, safety training
- Collaborate with the Construction PM to understand & manage the project costs
- Assist Project Managers on overseeing punch list and close out procedures
- Adapt quickly to changing priorities and shifting timelines
- Always conduct yourself in a professional manner
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field preferred
- 3+ years of experience in Construction Management, Administration, or Coordination
- Intermediate understanding of how to read plans & specifications
- Understanding of Construction practices and procedures
- Field experience is preferred
- Excellent computer skills MS Office, Excel, Google Workspace,Procore, Bluebeam
- Communicate with all levels of firm, clients, vendors, and subs in an articulate and professional manner
- Maintain confidentiality of information and document sensitivity
- Driver’s license and clean driving record required
- Excellent administrative skills, organized, detail-oriented, file management
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
- Solution oriented, problem solver, forward thinker
- Collaborate with team members and be a team player
- Ability to work independently, calmly under pressure, prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
- Able to accept constructive feedback
- Fun, positive attitude, and pleasant to work with
The Construction Project Engineer will report directly to the Principal of the Firm with support from Construction Project Managers
