CM Minor Graduate Receives Award

2005 Cal Poly SLO graduate Jordan A.M. Moffett was a recipient of the Distinguished Leadership Award in the Young Professional Category (35 years and younger) at the Design-Build Conference & Expo held in Denver, CO November 2-4, 2015. This honor recognizes those who have demonstrated leadership, efforts, and achievements which have impacted the understanding, use and advancement of design-build practices as an effective and efficient project delivery method. Those eligible for this award included owners, practitioners, elected officials at all levels, and full-time faculty and students at accredited institutions of higher learning.

Jordan has a 15 year history with Design-Build Delivery, commencing academically with his CM Minor and Architecture Major, followed by 10 years in the industry. The cornerstone was his course in “Fundamentals of Design-Build”, introducing him to these concepts, which he embraced immediately, realizing single-source project delivery was the link to connect the AEC industry. His career started with The Haskell Company based in Florida. Seven years later he joined McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. in California. Efforts there were instrumental in enhanced client experiences and led to his Company’s nomination for this award. He worked with Scripps Health, a prime McCarthy client, to obtain DBIA Conference scholarships solidifying the benefits of single-source project delivery, leading to the shift to Design-Build Delivery for all future work within their system. He has participated on multi-million dollar projects ($14M-$275M) in either an Architectural or Project Management capacity, seeking cross-training opportunities whenever possible.
