Welcome to the photo gallery for the Gala Groundbreaking Celebration for the College of Architecture and Environmental Design’s (CAED) new Construction Management Building on the Cal Poly campus. On the morning of Saturday, May 6, 2006, festivities began with an ASCM Golf Tournament at Avila Beach Golf Resort, and a Simpson Strong-Tie Workshop on campus. Later in the day the CM Department hosted an Open House and Ice Cream Social on Dexter Lawn, that was followed by a groundbreaking ceremony at the new site at South Perimeter Drive and Cuesta Avenue (near the old Powerhouse Building). A Gala Dinner topped off the day’s events at the Embassy Suites Hotel in San Luis Obispo. This photo series begins with the start of the groundbreaking opening remarks on Dexter Lawn at approximately 3 p.m. that included a signing ceremony by major alumni and corporate donors of the complex, and the presentation of commemorative plaques. The later portion of photos includes “ground breaking” with shovels by supporters and their families. All photos have been captioned from left to right. Thank you to all of the friends and alumni who made this building groundbreaking a great success!
