The Senior Project is completed by taking a series of two courses, CM 461 (2 units) and CM 462 (1 or 2 units), during the last two quarters before graduation. If the student elects to take CM 461 and CM 462, the senior project will consist of a comprehensive project chosen to challenge the technical, creative and organizational abilities of the student.
The student will seek approval of a unique and individually determined program of study and will be solely responsible for the method and chronology of its execution. The basis for grading will be based on the appropriateness of the project chosen and the quality and completion of its execution as determined by the advisor. The three approved areas of work are:
- Research
- Non-print Senior Projects
- Construction Management Services
Students who are interested in pursuing a senior project must submit a proposal to the appropriate senior project advisor and to the Department Head the quarter prior to registration in CM 461. Please see the Senior Project Guidelines for further details about deadlines and requirements.
A Senior Project is required at Cal Poly to complete the bachelor’s degree; however, in Construction Management a student may substitute CM 463 Professional Practice (3 units) for a senior project. This class is taken during the last quarter at Cal Poly.
